Cisco seems to think that there are no other certs that people have to have. They also think that everybody has money out the wazoo. It would be nice to find a comprehensive vendor neutral internetworking certification. I would jump off this merry-go-round real quick... |

Yes, Cisco changes there exams on a regular basis to keep the information, but I have never had to start over like I did with Microsoft. As long as I took the most current exam that filled the block, I was good to go. I mixed and matched exam from the 4, 5, and 600 series exams. I have never taking an exam more than once because Cisco changed the exams. If you can not keep track of this, do I really want you configuring subnets on my network? |

As long as the customer wants Cisco certs; I'll be renewing them. The closest vendor neutral stuff I have is CompTIA certs and no one seems to care about them. |

Thank goodness I have finished my CCNP exams (for now). There have been too many changes and it is not only getting expensive, but confusing. Set the path and let them walk it! |

In every other profession, certification is not only an important but regular occurance. If we as IT professionals want to be taken seriously by our employers and other people within the industry, the certification programs from companies like Cisco are the only valid way. People find out pretty quickly if you're a paper whatever. If you don't want to play the game get off the field. |
