Cisco Announces New Rich Media Certification

1/10/2006 -- Cisco Systems today announced it is adding the new Rich Media Communications Specialist to its Cisco Qualified Specialist certification offerings in IP Communications. The title validates an IT professional’s ability to design, implement and support integrated voice, video and Web collaboration communications in an IP network, Cisco said in a statement.

In addition to being able to set up video conferencing in an IP network independently, those certified are expected to understand how to configure it with Cisco CallManager for IP telephony, Cisco Unity Voice messaging or Cisco IP Contact Centers.

"To achieve the many benefits of voice conferencing, streaming video and other digital interactive media, organizations need network professionals with the right mix of skills," said Don Field, director of certifications at Cisco. "The Rich Media Communications Specialist certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring and troubleshooting rich media communications in an IP network."

The Rich Media Communications Specialist title requires candidates to currently hold a Cisco Certified Network Associate certification and to pass two exams:

  • 642-481 CRMC: Implementing Cisco IP Video Conference Rich Media Communications (ICRMC)
  • 642-432 CVOICE: Cisco Voice Over IP (CVOICE)
