Microsoft and Vue Extend Free Retake Promotion in U.S.
8/4/2004 -- Pearson Vue announced last week that it is extending its "Second Shot" promotion that allows U.S. candidates who fail a Microsoft exam to take the same exam a second time for free.
The promotion was scheduled to end June 30. "Based on popular demand...both Microsoft and Pearson Vue agreed to extend the promotion," said Randy Trask, vice president of Market Development for Pearson Vue.
Candidates now have until Sept. 30 to take the initial Microsoft exam, and until Oct. 31 to sit the retake if failed.
To qualify, the exam must be one on the following list:
- 70-270, Windows XP
- 70-290, Managing Windows 2003 Server
- 70-291, Managing a Windows 2003 Server Network
- 70-292, MCSA Upgrade
- 70-293, Planning a Windows 2003 Server Network
- 70-294, Planning Windows 2003 Server Active Directory Infrastructure
- 70-296, MCSE Upgrade
- 70-297, Designing Windows 2003 Active Directory
- 70-298, Designing Windows 2003 Security
Both the original exam and the retake must be taken at a Vue testing center. The free retake offer is limited to one per candidate.
