Sun Announces Free Beta for New Java Cert
5/21/2003 -- Sun Microsystems recently announced that it will soon be launching a new Java certification: the Sun Certified Business Component Developer for J2EE.
The company gave few details about the new title on its Web site, saying only that it's aimed at Sun Certified Java Programmers (SCJPs) who are "leveraging J2EE technology to develop server-side components to encapsulate business logic of an application."
Sun gave no live date for the new certification, but a beta version of the title's exam will debut June 6. The free beta is limited to 400 candidates worldwide.
Sun requests that beta participants have six to 12 months experience with Enterprise JavaBeans. To apply for this beta, go here. Those chosen will receive preliminary test objectives along with their electronic voucher. The beta will close once the first 400 exams are taken.
