Cisco Adds Simulation Questions to 3 More Exams

6/6/2002 -- Late yesterday, Cisco announced via its Web site that the company has completely updated five of its professional-level certification exams, adding flash-based simulation questions to three.

Effective immediately, candidates for Cisco's CCNP, CCDP and CCIP titles can register only for the new versions of the following exams:

Although the new versions are effective immediately, those who have already registered to take the previous versions of the above exams will be allowed to do so if their testing date is within the next six weeks.

Cisco said that anyone working toward the above titles can combine 640-6xx and 640-5xx exams for their requirements.

Cisco introduced the Flash-based simulation questions in its CCNA exam in April. At that time, many candidates were upset by Cisco's lack of prior warning about the change. According to various reports, it appears that this time around Cisco e-mailed at least some candidates last week alerting them to the upcoming switch.

6/16/02: Anonymous says: Hi Guys, Just got my CCNA. Please, may I know how long it can take me to get the CCNP - assuming 4 hours' study everyday?
6/17/02: Anonymous says: This is VERY good news. A certification should show how skilled you are not how much money you can throw into "training." A lot of those boot camps and classes allow you to pass the tests but the graduates cannot compare to experienced techs who've climbed the many rungs to get where they are. It's about time they changed the test, CCNP was becomming yet another paper cert. Although I think MCSE still has it beaten on the level of difficulty.
6/18/02: Anonymous says: I fall in the category of "Studying with the CCNA 640-507 materials, and now the new 607 is released." Can someone who took the 607 exam, -- POST EDITED -- ? I just want to know what to expect now...Thanks in advance. [Hi Anonymous -- we edited your post because we can't allow solicitation of actual test questions here. If you go to TCPMag.com and read Andy Barkl's review of this exam, that should give you a good idea of what to expect -- Becky Nagel, Web Editor, CertCities.com]
