Cisco Adds Simulation Questions to 3 More Exams

6/6/2002 -- Late yesterday, Cisco announced via its Web site that the company has completely updated five of its professional-level certification exams, adding flash-based simulation questions to three.

Effective immediately, candidates for Cisco's CCNP, CCDP and CCIP titles can register only for the new versions of the following exams:

Although the new versions are effective immediately, those who have already registered to take the previous versions of the above exams will be allowed to do so if their testing date is within the next six weeks.

Cisco said that anyone working toward the above titles can combine 640-6xx and 640-5xx exams for their requirements.

Cisco introduced the Flash-based simulation questions in its CCNA exam in April. At that time, many candidates were upset by Cisco's lack of prior warning about the change. According to various reports, it appears that this time around Cisco e-mailed at least some candidates last week alerting them to the upcoming switch.

6/11/02: Becky Nagel from Web Editor, CertCities.com says: Hi Byung -- I think what you're asking is if anything's different? The objectives are reportedly EXACTLY the same. However, it's all new questions, and there's the simulations. However, again the objectives that you study from have NOT changed (at least according to Cisco). Sorry we didn't make that clear in the article above! -- Becky Nagel, Web Editor, CertCities.com
6/12/02: trickydicky from London says: I took 640-603 this morning (the new routing exam) and passed. There was only one simulation ( configure ospf), and one drag and drop (build a policy based route map). All the rest were standard multi choice. The simulation is very realistic and easy to complete if you know your stuff. (? even shows which commands you can use.)
6/12/02: Becky Nagel from Web Editor, CertCities.com says: Hi Tricky -- Thanks for sharing your insights. Great information. Very interesting about the "?" -- had heard it didn't work on the CCNA, so it's good to know they're taking that on a case-by-case basis. -- Becky
6/12/02: delphi98 from Texas says: What is the best study material for CCNA? I have the Online Curriculum on a CD. And the Companion CD from somebody that took the Cisco Courses.
6/13/02: touche says: thanks tricky..good to know the ? command works in the simulation..i take mine in three days..pls mail any practice questions tht helped with the new 603 exam to [email protected]!!
6/13/02: touche says: sorry [email protected] thanks!!
6/13/02: Anonymous says: not only did they add sims to Routing and Remote Access, but they raised the bar (passing score) on most of the tests. Routing went from 690 to 700, Switching went from 699 to 776, Remote Access stayed at 706, and Support went from 690 to 755.
6/13/02: digital104 from Netherlands says: The passing score is dynamically adjusted on each specific randomly-generated exam. So only after some more reports we can say that the passing score are indeed increased. Is there a place where we can report passing scores? my passing lines were: 640-505 703 640-506 692 640-504 699 640-603 yet to come..
6/16/02: Anonymous says: Yeeeeeeeeeiiiiah Boiieeeeeeee
6/16/02: Anonymous says: THIS IS GOOD NEWS????? must be good to have all that money to throw around.
