Why is CertCities.com asking me to register?
CertCities.com is implementing registration on this site for two reasons. First, in order for CertCities.com to remain an advertising-supported site featuring top-tier advertisers, we need to collect more timely information about our collective readership and how the site is used. The new registration system will allow us to do this. Please note that this information is used collectively, and that our registration does NOT require you to make your individual information available to advertising messages unless you choose to receive them (more on this later in this FAQ).

The second is to control the amount of spam and troll postings under our articles. Requiring users to register in order to post will help us control such posts, while still allowing readers to express their opinions on various topics (anonymously, if you so choose -- simply check the post anonymously button).

What about spam? Does registering mean I'm going to get spam?
We take readers' privacy and spam concerns very seriously. Your e-mail will be used to communicate with you about your CertCities.com account. However, when registering, you can opt-out of occasional mailings from other 101communications products and/or from select third parties: Simply check that you do not want to receive such messages.

Note that if you decide later on you do/do not want to receiving such mailings, you may change your options at any time through your personal member center link (requests may take up to seven days to process) or through the mailings themselves at anytime.

Please note that your decision of whether or not to receive third-party offers is NEVER tied to your registration status! You don’t have to receive such messages. With our system, it's easy to opt-in or out of third-party e-mail at anytime through the member center (or e-mail messages), and whatever you choose will not affect your Certcities.com registration status.

Does registration mean that I have to receive CertCities.com’s newsletter?
No. Our e-mail newsletter is opt-in only. When registering, you will be given the option to sign up for our CertCities.com’s weekly newsletter. If you do not check this option, you will not be signed up.

What does registration give me access to on CertCities.com?
Registration will give you access to the following articles/features on the site:

-- All Tips
-- All Exams Reviews
-- Select Features (Hot Certs, Free Practice exams)

Our news stories and columns, as well as select other areas of our site, may still be read in full without registration. Please note, however, that you will not be allowed to post under any articles or take advantage of the printer-friendly format of the pages unless you register with the site.

What will registration ask me?
Please click here to see our current registration page. Only fields marked with an asterisk are required – the rest are optional. Note that you must provide a valid e-mail address, as your registration confirmation number will be sent via e-mail.

IMPORTANT: If you have an e-mail filter, please be sure to whitelist the domain certcities.com in order to ensure you receive this e-mail!

What technical requirements does your registration system have?
The registration system will work with 4.0 or higher versions of Explorer, Netscape and Opera as well as any 1.x verson of Mozilla. Please note that you will need to have session cookies enabled in order for the site to recognize your initial registration. However, after your registration is confirmed, you will have the option of placing a password-encrypted cookie on your computer so that the next time you visit from this machine you will automatically be rembered. Or, if you have cookies disabled or on a public computer, you can just login in and logout when you are through with your visit.

I didn’t get my registration confirmation e-mail…
You should receive the confirmation e-mail within minutes of registering. If you don’t, check first to make sure that your e-mail address isn’t blocking e-mails from CertCities.com and/or putting the message into a spam folder. If you have further problems, please Contact Us by phone or e-mail for further assistance.

The registration system isn’t recognizing my confirmation number…
If the registration system returns an error when you enter your confirmation number on this page, first, make sure to check that the number is exactly what you received in the e-mail (or simply use the link within your e-mail).

You may also receive this error message if you accidentally submit the confirmation number twice. To see if you already confirmed your registration, go to our Login page, enter your user name and password and click Login. If you can log in, this means that your confirmation was already entered.

PLEASE NOTE: You must confirm your registration within three weeks of receiving the confirmation e-mail. If your confirmation is not received within that period, the system will delete your registration and you will need to re-register.

If you have further problems, please Contact Us by phone or e-mail.

I’ve forgotten my user name and/or password…
Please go here to have your user name and/or password automatically e-mailed to you. If you have further problems, please Contact Us by phone or e-mail.

I’m already registered in your forums – will this registration carry over to the main site?
We are working on an upgrade that will make the registration system completely cross-compatible with our forums. The first step in this, having site registrations work with the forums, should be completed within the next few weeks. However, at this time, the registrations are not cross-compatible. We do apologize for this inconvenience, and again, should at least have one-way compatibility shortly.

What if I want to delete my registration?
You may delete your registration at any time through your individual member center options page. If you had designated to receive our newsletter and/or any third party mailings and you no longer wish to receive these, you may cancel them within your member center before deleting your account. If you want to keep receiving these, you may simply end your registration then contact us at a later time to end these mailings.

What if I have further questions or want to provide feedback regarding this registration system or the rest of the site?
Please feel free to Contact Us anytime. end article
