Oracle Reaches 60,000 OCPs
3/8/2001 -- Oracle Corp. announced last week that it has certified more than 60,000 individuals as Oracle Certified Professionals (OCPs). According to the company, this is a 100 percent increase over the past eight months.
The OCP program offers several titles, including Database Operator (DBO), Database Administrator (DBA), Application Developer (AD) and Java Developer.
Oracle refused to comment on which title grew the most, or give individual counts by track. "We don't release that information," said a company spokesperson.

There is no value of being an OCP, this is only the wastage of your money. I'm an OCP myself but where ever i go they ask for the experience more than 3 years not the OCP Certificate. |

I've got my ocp DBA certification almost a year ago and until now I'm unemployed because no firm is going to give me job without experience.So I request Oracle coroporation to arrange me a job or stop the rubbish certification program. |

I have done the first ocp course, which was introduction to sql pl/sql and sql*plus. I wont say that it was easy, my second step is to be certified on this course, i have loads of information including sample tests, books and software. SQL contains hundrads of codes and functions, the sample tests and tutorials i have each one is different than the other. What i would like to know is how to prepare for the exam, and if possible to get comments from people who attended the tests which will be very helpfull. NOTE: I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH BACK GROUND IN ORACLE, I DON'T WORK IN A COMPUTER JOB AND I M IN THE PETROLUME INDUSTRY...DO YOU THINK ITS ADVISABLE FOR ME TO CONTINUE IN THIS FIELD (OCP), I M IN TO COMPUTERS ITS VERY INTRESTING???? In Pakistan - people are getting the stickers of OCP as if they distributed for free. Tom Dick and Harry all are getting OCP. The certification has lost its charm here. You can by the whole course material (Books + CBTs + mock questions) for Rs.1000/- (USD 18). Its really pathetic - infact it hurts me... |
