Oracle Reaches 60,000 OCPs

3/8/2001 -- Oracle Corp. announced last week that it has certified more than 60,000 individuals as Oracle Certified Professionals (OCPs). According to the company, this is a 100 percent increase over the past eight months.

The OCP program offers several titles, including Database Operator (DBO), Database Administrator (DBA), Application Developer (AD) and Java Developer.

Oracle refused to comment on which title grew the most, or give individual counts by track. "We don't release that information," said a company spokesperson.

3/14/01: Nasim says: Very good.
3/16/01: Pankaj says: OCP is not still like MCP/MCSE, that has lost its charm, but if Oracle will keep producing professionals at this speed the value of OCP may be even less then MCP/MCSE/MCDBA in a near future.
3/16/01: Partha says: would like to prepare for OCP, thanks
3/17/01: Anonymous says: If Oracle makes it too easy, then the value will definitely decrease.
3/17/01: Anonymous says: Is it a must to have work experience to do OCP-DBA
3/19/01: lamont says: no exam can be that hard.. except cisco's CCIE.
3/19/01: Fouad says: I am MCSE (1998, London). There is no SYLVAN in my country (Azerbaijan). No any market in IT. I passed PL/SQL in Moscow. It was really very difficult, MCSE was much more easier. I planned to become OCP DBA, CCNA, CCNP, MCSD. This year!
3/20/01: Becky says: Hi Fouad -- That's a lot for one year. Would you mind sharing a little of how you're planning to do it? Will you have to go to Moscow to take the tests? Also, what's the IT market like where you are? Just like to know more. -- Becky Nagel, Web Editor, CertCities.com
3/21/01: Fouad says: becky - i'm just extrremely inteligent
