Cisco Offering Five $50 Beta Exams in April

4/2/2003 -- Cisco Systems has revamped five of its certification exams and is currently testing them through a discount beta exam program.

Three of the betas are currently live. They are:

  • 643-641 QoS (available through April 10)
  • 643-821 BCRAN (available through April 15)
  • 643-811 BCMSN (available through April 18)

Betas of 643-831 CIT and 643-801 BSCI will launch April 7. The CIT beta is scheduled to end on April 25. The BSCI beta will end May 10.

The betas are available for $50 (U.S.) at Pearson Vue and Prometric testing centers worldwide -- $75 off the normal price of $125 (US). Passing a beta gives you credit toward certification.

Two other betas Cisco was conducting -- 641-871 ARCH and 641-661 BGP -- closed on March 31. Cisco did not state when the final versions of any of these exams will go live.

4/15/03: Anonymous says: everyone likes money, you take more certs to get a job or better job for money, you get a degree to get a good job to make more money, microsoft cisco comptia developed so many exams at $100 each for people to take so that they can make more money...it's all about money...money, money, money...i also love money...like who doesn't?
4/15/03: Anonymous says: life tastes good...when you have enough money, and tastes even better when you have a lot of money...
4/16/03: Anonymous says: ...anyone even closer to identifying the differences in exam topics between the current and beta CCNP papers? Comparing the two specs, seems they're written in an entirely different format and the betas are a bit vague..very helpful when deciding what needs to be studied.....NOT
4/19/03: almost ccnp guy says: i presented the bcmsn. 20 questions were not in the semester 7 of the academy....now i am waiting 12 weeks for the grades :-(. Be aware.
4/30/03: Hellcat from Florida says: For all the complaints about Cisco, no one is forcing anyone to study the material, go to the bootcamps or take the tests. If you don't like to do something... don't do it!!! Life is too short to walk through it whining about everything.
