I don't know what to think of this, Maybe this will keep the Wannabe IT pros away. There prices are high and now we can't buy vouchers but as long as they keep there certs lifetime certs then I will be ok with them raising the prices of there exams a bit. |

Boy...good thing Comptia did that. I would hate to think that they are missing out on any money. Let's see now...that should raise the price of Network to the over 200 dollar mark, for what is essentially Network Essentials. I love CISCO even more now! |

Last week, i took, and passed, the A+ Core Hardware exam. It was easy. In fact, it was too easy. It was the most untechnical exam i've seen. The exam was a joke, and a major disappointment for me. I honestly thought "entry level" meant more than "Read a book once or twice - you'll pass". Certs are supposed to prove your ability to get the job done, to yourself and to potential employers. This exam (maybe the Core OS too, which i'll be taking next week) doesn't. To my surprise, the exam didn't have anything to do with... harwdare troubleshooting. Add the ridiculous price of CompTIA exams (200$ for an A+ exam in Israel, but 139$ isn't that much better). What do you get? I'm glad the A+ is the only CompTIA cert employers (at least in Israel) require. After taking this exam, if I were an employer, I'd have applicants pass an in-house exam. If this is the face of CompTIA certs, i'm not interested. I'll be taking the Core OS exam, i'll finish what I started, and that's it. Certs that mean nothing and cost way too much money aren't my cup of tea. I know, paying 200$ for a lifetime certification isn't a lot. But certs that never expire mean nothing, especially if they were worthless to begin with. BTW, banning the reselling of vouchers can be considered fair, in a way. However, raising the exam prices a week after, is a cynical money making scheme. CompTIA? Non-profit? They've got quite a racket going on. |

CompTia is crazy! The certs aren't worth much anyway and they want to raise the price. Certification buissiness will surely be dieing soon. I know I'm going to get the BS degree and forget about certs. This whole racket has gotten out of control. |

I don't work for Cisco, but suggest the CCNA as a very good alternative to Comptia certs... good real-world experience needed or at least use of routing sims. It's pretty well a good bet if you want to prove you know your entry level networking stuff, and "only" $125.00 |
