New MS Security Exam Under Development

6/26/2002 -- Earlier this week, Microsoft released information on development of a new security-based exam.

According to the exam objectives guide posted at http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/exams/70-214.asp, Exam 70-214, Implementing and Administering Security in a Windows 2000 Network is an MCSA and MCSE elective that's expected to be released in beta form in November 2002.

The exam follows on the heels of comments that Microsoft's training and certification group made earlier this year regarding possible development of a security certification (see "Microsoft Considering Desktop, Security Certs").

MCPMag.com will bring you more information on this exam as it becomes available. - Michael Domingo, MCPmag.com

6/27/02: suckaP says: You can't believe a word Microsoft says. They just got done telling us a month ago that they weren't developing a security cert when they really were all along. Lying bastards as usual.
6/28/02: Bobby Digital says: So what is the difference between this new exam and exam 70-220? It seems kind of redundant to me.
6/28/02: Anonymous says: And when is everyone going to admit that certs are also a victim of the dot.com bust?
6/28/02: Rich from Amsterdam says: The difference between the 70-214 and the 70-220 could be told by their respective names , one testing for implementation and admin skills , and the other one certifying design skills. Just like the rest of the core exams as opposed to design exams
6/29/02: KOFI AGYEKUM from ACCRA says: thanks
6/29/02: rhce says: Microsoft is full of CROCK
7/1/02: Dan Truax from Microsoft says: Rich is correct. Exam 70-220 is focused on design for security and 70-214 will be focused on implementation. If you compare the two prep guides you will get a good idea of the differences at a deeper level.
7/1/02: microsoft got all my money says: i'll just wait and see!!!!!
7/1/02: microsoft got all my money says: i'll just wait and see if the it world bites
