Cisco Adds Simulation Questions to 3 More Exams

6/6/2002 -- Late yesterday, Cisco announced via its Web site that the company has completely updated five of its professional-level certification exams, adding flash-based simulation questions to three.

Effective immediately, candidates for Cisco's CCNP, CCDP and CCIP titles can register only for the new versions of the following exams:

BCSI 640-901 Yes BCSI 640-900 CCIP, CCNP, CCDP
Routing 640-603 Yes Routing 640-503 CCNP, CCDP

Support 640-606 No Support 640-506 CCNP

Although the new versions are effective immediately, those who have already registered to take the previous versions of the above exams will be allowed to do so if their testing date is within the next six weeks.

Cisco said that anyone working toward the above titles can combine 640-6xx and 640-5xx exams for their requirements.

Cisco introduced the Flash-based simulation questions in its CCNA exam in April. At that time, many candidates were upset by Cisco's lack of prior warning about the change. According to various reports, it appears that this time around Cisco e-mailed at least some candidates last week alerting them to the upcoming switch.

6/25/02: JBird from Jersey says: don't aim to pass; aim to excel passing for new 640-605 is less than 700...i recall it being 700 or 755
6/25/02: elvis says: I mean the new 640-605?
6/25/02: Ace from London says: Hi Guys, you are all doing a good job! Keep it up! I do also agree, upgrade the exams before it gets like the MCSE, worthless! But a quick questions, in the BSCN 640-603 exam, do you get a let of questions where it says "Pick correct 2 answers" or "Pick correct 3 answers". Thanks, Ace
6/26/02: Anonymous says: hi everyone, Cisco has changed the exam version for CCNP but two papers SWITCHING(640-604) and SUPPORT (640-606) are not having simulations in their track, now my query is will the questions or pattern of questions be changed or not ?
6/28/02: Anonymous says: Hi, i did Routing (640-603) exam today. I pass. The exam had some tricky questions... You must know very well, redistribution, summarization and frame relay environment in ospf and eigrp. BGP questions are easy. The simulation was ospf configuration in a single area. The commands are very easy to discover in exibition commands. Good luck to all.
6/28/02: Henry from Santa Rosa says: Router Simulator is just a piece of cake. It's worth to get Router Simulator and reduce the number of questions. That'll be easier to us. I just took CCNP Remote Access (640-605) today and got it passed. There had been only one question coming with the simulator and it was ridiculously easy: configure frame relay on an interface, with NO DLCI, NO sub-interface needed. Morever, "?" works in case you don't remember something. Hey guys, let's celebrate the release of new exams!
7/5/02: Bakare Lateef Adeniyi from Nigeria says: what is the noise about the change in the exam? Cisco should be updating their exams at least three times pey year. It will only keep the men from the boys; and the girls from the mama.
7/7/02: Yasir from Saudi Arabia says: hi! good job guys, u made my work easy , i m giving new routing paper on thursday 11th july and from your comments i m getting much help but one problem which i like to share that i prepare for routing paper from old cisco press BSCN!! is this ok or ???????
7/9/02: JBird from Jersey says: Passed routing last week. Wasn't that bad. Lots of tricky questions though; Boson practice questions and cisco press should do it. Only one simulator, which was setting up ospf in a single area, one drag and drop, configuring summarization in eigrp.
7/29/02: Anonymous says: CIT Sims easy but Cisco test professionals off rocker with questions pick 3 out 4 ans. lots of what does command show...instead of what U do with them.
