Oracle Offering Half-Price Exams in India

2/11/2004 -- News Today, a South India-based newspaper, is reporting that Oracle is offering half-price off all of its exam fees in India through March 31.

Minimal details about the discount are available, except that it is available at Prometric testing centers throughout the country.

According to the News Today story, published Feb. 2, candidates who want to take advantage of this discount should contact Oracle University, India at 1600-44-88-77 for more information. -Becky Nagel

3/8/04: realist says: Even half price is very costly from any standard for a common Indian. Imagine how much one has to pay for getting certified, when you need to pay 45 times (exchange rate). All certification fees shall be fixed based on countries standards of income.
3/21/04: sk from Bangalore says: Guys, all this stuff is really a display of the american ignorance about third world realities. Being and indian, I can assure my american friends, that the exam is still pretty expensive by our standards. Come on guys, Haven't You heard of purchasng power pairity. And for God's sake don't cry too much about outsourcing. Alls going to settle down once your economy revs up again.
4/9/04: vijay from naik says: hi, iam calling from mumbai and I want to know about OCP 9i exams Prometric centers in india(Mumbai) . can you guide me in this regards. awaiting earnestlyu from you. thank you. vijay naik.
4/11/04: AS from USA says: If Americans want 1 billion Indians to comsume Pepsi /Coke and eat at Mc Donalds, then it should not cry fould about outsourcing. Each country is good at something- take a look at American Universities, Almost 95% of students in any engineering grad school are chinese//Indians. Face the truth, the best jobs will go to the best ppl.
4/12/04: Anonymous from india says: I am really surprised at the lack of awareness among the Americans. R u guys bothered abt USA giving 100 million of tax dollars every month to Pak for just being an ally? India is not getting any favor. We are more productive than our US counterparts and more work is coming our way, and we are being paid fairly for it. Not a penny more than deserved. The same work done on homeground would cost US firms roughly 10-20 times more. SO it is pure business sense to for any orgn to outsource work to India, China, etc. India is getting flooded by cheap chinese goods and all we guys are asking is why cant Indian cos. slash their prices if prodn. costs are so low?
4/14/04: santosh from delhi says: I want to know about DBA courses and its study centre in delhi and its fee structure and its exam process.
4/22/04: N. Malpure from Pune says: I would like to know the Oracle DBA Certification centers in Mumbai/Pune/Nasik.
5/10/04: Sajeeth.K from Chennai says: My overseas mates, Some accusations that you have made abt certification in India are hurting me. Any MNC would not love to have any joker in their midst.Only real qualified, technical people survive in a highly competitive environment like the ones in the west.If an American can get fired overnight for non-performance,so can it be for an asian too... And ,i dont agree with the view that Indians get certified easily by studying thro' brain dumps. Very few spineless people do so..I dont refute that. But,it happens in EVERY part of the world by a relative few. I believe they cannot stand out further in a competitive environment unless they prove themselves.Genuine certifications are there in plenty in India. MNCs dont employ Indians outta pure love either. After all, we do get things done like the rest of you. We work just like you, sweat out during odd hours to make your bosses happy. Friends, Dollars alone shouldn't drive us around. There are indeed people in third world countries who haven't had 3 meals in a day for years. I have seen many a kind a people.Even if it is a promo,Oracle corp has really been magnanious in offer us certifications at a discount.Your purchasing parity is higher than 90% of us Indians. You can survive if you really have it in you.Sulking doesn't help. Stop looking at us as competitors. We are NOT a replacement for you,but a complement.Get armed with the best in technology. The US has been seeing the face of terror only after Spet 11.We have been victims of terror even before that. We HATE violence as you do. We are not related to Osama in any manner either :) :). Outsourcing is not going to take away your jobs.On the contrary,it would end up creating more qualified jobs for you guys. So, be cheerful.Excel yourself in your area. Regards, Sajeeth.K
5/11/04: Charanpreet from Pune says: I want to know about the after discount fees for oracle 9i certification exam I in Indian Currency.
6/4/04: Anonymous says: please guys, dont make such a hue and cry of discount being given in india. when there is so much talent in countries like india which can not come out because of financial constraints. i dont think oracle is doing anything wrong. every company has a right to make profit. i know it is not easy to see other countries' rise at your stake. but thats how world is. big companies are getting good solutions at cheaper rate so its there right to shift there bases to such locations. anyway everyone is free to do what they wish and we are nobody to comment on what oracle is doing is right or wrong.
