As a current CISSP, I don't mind paying the initial fee to pay for the exam, but the (ISC)2 is more like a freaking club than a certification body... If the people want to just retake the exam every three years, why do those people have to pay the annual "maintenance" fee? |

Laid off again!!!!!!!!CCNP, CISSP, Marconi ATM certified, many firewall training classes and a bachelor's in finance (you know, the "business" degree that everyone claims will make you a well-rounded individual) and I still got the ax! I hate to burst the bubble even farther my fellow Americans but our government and large corporations have sold us out yet again! I'm done with IT and I suggest all American IT workers had better start looking aver their shoulders a lot more. Thank goodness I paid off my home, my wife works, we saved money, and I can focus on getting an MBA in either accounting or finance. I thought with my certs and education I would be safe but I was hit with those precious words from the human resource bitch, "We really wish there was a way to keep you. Your services rendered here were valuable; but, because we are forced to go another direction in our IT support, we have to let you go." I'll tell you what, congratulations you.... bastards...you blow up are people and then we blindly outsource everything to you and say please f--k us again!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I have been a MCSE for 8 years and have my CISSP for 4 years. I also have a NSA cert and am going to sit for the new ISC2 ISSEP Exam later this month. I work in the Government sector and the MCSE/CISSP combo is considered evidence of your worth. The MCSE has no experience requirement, so lots of college kids opt for it. But the CISSP requires evidence of specific experience, and has requirement for another CISSP to vouch for the experience. Their are no paper CISSP's. I haven't been unemployed, haven't worried about it, and actually get job offers almost daily if not weekely. Certs alone only get an interview. Its capabilites that get the jobs. Certs show capabilities and help get the positions. Besides the right cert means mo money. |
