I am a CCIE and got hired on that. I had no trouble getting a job that included relocation (from MS to MD) and I am only 23. I do not know what you people are doing wrong, but it must be something. |

3 things - 1) commercial market still stinks 2) routing and switching are commoditized 3) training centers churn out Cisco "certified" test takers with the same speed and quanity as MCSEs - breadth and depth of experience get you the money. CCIE is one of the few certs that still mean anything because you have to prove you can do this and not just take Prometric tests. |

I hope CCIE Sec. will pay off - in more than just monetary ways. I have just finished the CCIE sec. training. Hope to take the lab soon. I am also ccnp, ccsp, infosec, mcse, gsec, gcfw and mcse. And Q2 of 2004 I take the cissp. I am not after the money I am after the knowledge, skill and more opportunities to work with more complex environments. Don't get me wrong I am hoping for more $$. I deserve it. I don't make a bad salary now but it's no where near what I am worth even without the CCIE. I stay because of job security and all neat stuff I get to work with. |
