CCIE Lab News

7/30/2003 -- Cisco Systems recently announced several news items related to its Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) lab exams.

Most significantly, the company announced that it will be adding VPN concentrators and IDS sensors to its hands-on Security lab exam beginning Sept. 29. The company also said that the Security lab is now available at its North Carolina testing location, and will debut in Beijing beginning next week.

Also debuting in September is the new CCIE Voice Exam, which the company originally announced in April. The live version of the lab exam will debut on Sept. 2 at the San Jose, Calif. testing center.

More information on these and other recent CCIE lab exam changes can be found here. -Becky Nagel

9/3/03: Anonymous says: cisco suxx! no jobs no money!
9/4/03: John Clark from Baltimore, MD says: I am a CCIE and got hired on that. I had no trouble getting a job that included relocation (from MS to MD) and I am only 23. I do not know what you people are doing wrong, but it must be something.
9/5/03: Ball Bay from New York says: agree. I am a CCNP and I have no problem finding a job. 70K and up
9/10/03: Rob from BaltoWash says: 3 things - 1) commercial market still stinks 2) routing and switching are commoditized 3) training centers churn out Cisco "certified" test takers with the same speed and quanity as MCSEs - breadth and depth of experience get you the money. CCIE is one of the few certs that still mean anything because you have to prove you can do this and not just take Prometric tests.
9/22/03: Ashiqur Rahman from Bangladesh says: Expect more connection.
9/25/03: Jackie from South Africa says: Has anyone got any recent practice exams for CCIE labs, mine is on the 28th of November 2003 Please help
10/23/03: Anonymous says: I hope CCIE Sec. will pay off - in more than just monetary ways. I have just finished the CCIE sec. training. Hope to take the lab soon. I am also ccnp, ccsp, infosec, mcse, gsec, gcfw and mcse. And Q2 of 2004 I take the cissp. I am not after the money I am after the knowledge, skill and more opportunities to work with more complex environments. Don't get me wrong I am hoping for more $$. I deserve it. I don't make a bad salary now but it's no where near what I am worth even without the CCIE. I stay because of job security and all neat stuff I get to work with.
