Cisco Releases New Content Networking Cert

3/27/2002 -- Yesterday Cisco Systems announced a new specialty certification, Content Networking.

According to Cisco, the title is designed "for network professionals who can demonstrate significant skills and knowledge in content edge delivery, content distribution and management, content switching, content routing and intelligent network services."

To become a Cisco Qualified Specialist in Content Networking, candidates must first hold a valid CCIP or CCNP certification, then pass the following two exams:

  • Building Cisco Content Networking Solutions Exam (Coming April 2002)
  • Cisco Content Networking Specialist Exam

This is the sixth Specialist title Cisco has launched since introducing the program last year. These titles are offered in addition to the company's "career certifications," such as the CCNA and CCIE.

More information on this specialization can be found here. - B.N.

5/1/02: Jay from Kissimmee says: Hello i am a student in florida and i am taking a cisco class as extra credit in high school and its not that bad but the requirements suck the teacher is an asshole because he wants me to choose either FootBall or Cisco but I refuse to choose. The so called teacher does nothing to teach us he just sits there and yells or talks about his boring ass life.(cisco probably thinks hes teaching but hes not and hes getting paid for it) this guy is a joke he cant spell and looks like a pyrate. As i read all your comments it makes me think if this class is worth doing or not. dont get me worng i like networking and its something i would like to do but this sh*t shucks right now!!!
4/30/02: Anonymous from from Cisco says: Jay, your high school student, but you should be able to think through this. 1. Your teacher is not good. So no matter what the class is a waste of time. 2. You can take Cisco at a community college or wait until you go to college and take it there with probably a better teacher. 3. Your in high school, go play football and have fun. No one is going to hire you as a Cisco Network Administrator until you gain some experience and your high school class is not going to get you the job. You need to take the class at a higher level institution and obtain an internship at some place, like Siemens.

5/16/02: VP from CCIE INC says: extremely agree with "hoo from virginia "
7/1/02: A Dane says: Hi, there. I am from Denmark, and I am reading some cisco lecture, I think I will try to get some certifications soon. But honestly.... I havent heard of, that it gives a better job. In my compagny (telecommunication) experience counts, ccxx or msxx is useless. Take care not to waste too much energy and time in certifications, the only ones that think its an good idea is cisco and microsoft,- it keeps their wheels turning.
9/12/02: Margie Olson from gloucester, virginia says: My son just graduated from High School and plans to take two exams for cisco and A PLUS certification. He took 2 years of cisco and 1 year of A plus certification in high school through Dual Enrollment. That gave him college credit for cisco and A plus. He knows networking and computer repair of hardware and software. Teacher said he can start out making 40,000.00 year. Any advice for him would be appreciated. He is really quite bright about computer stuff. You may e-mail me. Thanks ([email protected])
