Cisco Releases New Content Networking Cert

3/27/2002 -- Yesterday Cisco Systems announced a new specialty certification, Content Networking.

According to Cisco, the title is designed "for network professionals who can demonstrate significant skills and knowledge in content edge delivery, content distribution and management, content switching, content routing and intelligent network services."

To become a Cisco Qualified Specialist in Content Networking, candidates must first hold a valid CCIP or CCNP certification, then pass the following two exams:

  • Building Cisco Content Networking Solutions Exam (Coming April 2002)
  • Cisco Content Networking Specialist Exam

This is the sixth Specialist title Cisco has launched since introducing the program last year. These titles are offered in addition to the company's "career certifications," such as the CCNA and CCIE.

More information on this specialization can be found here. - B.N.

3/27/02: suckaP says: Give me a break. Cisco can take any exam and add the word "content" to it and make a new cert, but the overwhelming knowledge required for this cert is the same as many other Cisco certs, thus making this one nothing unique. And what value are all these new certifications since they receive so little attention relative to other mainstay Cisco certs like CCIE since employers know little, if anything, about them? My employer wants to know a candidate has routing and switching knowledge, not "content" routing and switching knowledge. What's next? CCE - (C)isco (C)ertified (E)verything? Give it a rest already!
3/29/02: Nader from CCNA says: yo, i agree that whenever you're certified, man, you're a cool guy man .... yo.
3/29/02: Nader from MCSE says: and yo man, I'm MCSE and could'nt find a damn job man, untill I got my Cisco cert. man, I became a senior technitian man in a big IT company man, now I'm making something like 1200 bucks per week man, blindfolded here man, so yo, go ahead man with all the certs you like, and content networking, it seems ok, go yo man ...

4/3/02: hoo from virginia says: Yeah, whats the deal with all these bullshit certifications? Is cisco saying that their CCNP and CCNA is inadequet? I got like CCNP and MCSE, cant find a dam job to save my life. This country is full of redneck racist.
4/3/02: aom from wy says: certification without experience ? something to think about
4/5/02: hoo sucks says: Maybe you can find a job with trailerpark.com
4/14/02: dr from Holland says: Stop wasting your money in certificatinos did they get you a job?
4/19/02: jamaicanstudent says: The 607 exam stinks. You have to wait forever for the router simulations to download. It is so @#$ tiny, maybe 4"X4", you can hardly read the instructions on the top and on the side. All this while your time is ticking away.Cisco can do much better than this.
