MCSA Exam To Go Live Jan. 22
1/1/2002 -- During an MCPmag.com online chat that took place Dec. 19, Director of the Microsoft Certification and Skills Assessment group Anne Marie McSweeney said that the Managing a Windows 2000 Network exam (70-218) -- a core exam required for the company's new Microsoft Certifed Administrator (MCSA) title -- will go live Jan. 22, 2002.
Because of beta exams taken, there is a likelihood on the day of its release that there will already be a few hundred MCSA title holders. The requirements for the MCSA are as follows:

C. One required core Networking Systems exam70-218, Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Environment, or 70-278, Managing a Microsoft Windows. NET Network Environment (not yet available).
D. One elective among the following: 70-028, System Administration for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0; 70-081, Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5; 70-086, Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0; 70-216, Implementing and Administering a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure, among others.
Those who have passed the Accelerated Exam (70-240, which retired at the end of 2001) can apply that exam to requirements A and B. Also, those who have taken specified CompTIA exams can use them as a waiver for requirement D. (The qualifying combination is A+/Network+ or A+/Server+.)

The absence of any directional learning material made the lengthy beta exam a little challenging. The length of time given to prepare for the sudden invitation to sit the beta exam was on the other hand somewhat shorter. However, I was able to put together my own study guide from a host of other MCSE/MCP training material that I have at my disposal. I now await in anticipation for my result. Anyone know the date for the release of beta results? |

First Windows 2000, then XP and .Net. I'm already MCP for Professional and Server, already completed book for MCSE Exams path Windows 2000, but Microsoft makes me headache (in 2 years launch new OS and new path again) and getting frustrated. Linux is better for me now, and got a good prospect |

I recently passed the 218 exam and am allowed to call myself MCSA now(on paper!!). When i read all these titles from people i wonder where i stand as MCSA 2003. Its hard to find a job as an MCSA here. Can it be that companies dont know the surplus value of 218...?, IF there is a surplus value. Beside that, how can a man practice W-2000 administrator when you don`t get the chance to work with this relative new O.S.?? Half 2002 I knew nothing of computers, now I am MCSA-W-2000 oriented and I feel bad, really bad that my hard study period seems to be for nothing. How many exams does a man need to take before being recognized by companies as a Microsoft Certified Professional and that they give you a chance to practice?? It seems to me that a man only counts when he`got his MCSE-credentials!! |
