Cisco Hikes Exam Fees 25 Percent

10/31/2001 -- Cisco announced last week that it will be raising the price of its core certification exams in North America. Starting tomorrow, Nov. 1, all exams that used to cost $100 (i.e., those starting with numbers "640" and "9E0") will now cost $125 (U.S.). Also, the Foundations exam (640-509) -- which is a "combo" exam for the company's CCNP and CCDP titles --- will now cost $250 instead of $200.

This is the second price hike that Cisco has announced this year. In March, the company raised the price of its CCIE qualification and lab exams.

10/31/01: Anonymous says: This info was on the Cisco website (instant answers section) dated 10/23/2001 and 10/24/2001, articles Exam Price Update, and Exam Vouchers - Affected by Exam Price Update. No one helped me with this info but found out the details and I got my CCNA test scheduled today to take in December. I'll reschedule my exam when I finish studying and will have only paid $100 (if I pass). Yeah.
10/31/01: Anonymous says: The problem with these "breaking news" articles is that they come out too late and could have advised the readers earlier and thus saved them some dough. My advise is that this magazine, you needs an inbox for news and rumors from readers so they can investigate quickly and print if true. Then you won't have to be late and just publish the "official" Cisco statement when it's too late (info was available 10/23/2001). That is my two cents.
10/31/01: Anonymous says: sorry, the word was supposed to be "advice". Spelling counts ;)
10/31/01: Anonymous says: your sister magazine, tcpmag.com, had this article on the 25th. you need to read each other's publications.
10/31/01: Angelo mays says: This is a bad decision due to the current state of the Economy. If we had stayed with the high growth of last year I would have understood however it seems Cisco needs some money to pump up that bottom line and they are going to extract it out of us! Bad bad bad especially since salaries have been stagnant for the last 12 months and are now starting to pull back.
11/1/01: Anonymous says: well I'm CCIE Candidate, CCNP ATM/voice, CCDP, CCSE, CSE, MCSE win2k, MCDBA win2k drawing 40 K
11/1/01: Anonymous says: I believe you get what you pay for. The Cisco Certification has done wonders for me in my career. So they raise the price, so what, in the end it will pay for itself. Just keep looking but don't walk into the first thing that is offered. For Anonymouse who doesn't have a job with MCSE/CCNP then verify or re-write and condition your resume. Believe me it works.
11/1/01: Lee says: Cisco is a clone of Microsuck. Someday they'll get what all Greedy Scum deserves.
11/1/01: Anonymous says: If getting a certification, get u a job. I paid, but not for everyone... Think before you act
11/2/01: chris says: i think that if you spent as much time working and studying as you do B*tching then you might not have to worry about the cost of this Cert, and further more... its still not as expensive as microsux
