Details on New MCSD, MCSE Exams Leak Out

9/12/2001 -- According to a recent edition of the Certification Corner e-mail newsletter, several .NET-related MCSD exams have been labeled and are in the works. They are:

  • 70-300 Analyzing Requirements and Designing Solutions Architecture for Windows .NET
  • 70-304 Developing Windows Applications with Visual C++
  • 70-305 Developing Web Applications with VB.NET
  • 70-306 Developing Windows Applications with VB.NET
  • 70-310 Developing Applications on the .NET Framework
  • 70-315 Developing Web Applications with C#
  • 70-316 Developing Windows Applications with C#

One or more of these exams may also apply to the new mid-level developer certification Microsoft is creating.

When asked for comment, Microsoft declined to officially acknowledge these exams. However, if this list remains intact, it follows a familiar scheme that Microsoft has been following, only this time the company is heavily pushing the familiar and omnipresent .NET technology.

Certification Corner also lists details of Microsoft's forthcoming exams for the MCSE track:

  • 70-280 Network Systems and Directory Services Fundamentals
  • 70-272 Migrating from NT 4.0 to Windows .NET Server

The 70-280 exam, according to the newsletter, will be an offering under the new "Systems Administrator" track that Microsoft is developing; there's no indication whether it will also be an MCSE elective. Microsoft has also declined to comment on the development of these exams. -MCPMag.com

10/4/01: Usman says: Its a good news to hear that new tracks for MCSD and MCSE are going to be launched. I am 16 years old and i have passed "Desktop Application" of MCSD. Know i am planning to give paper of "Distributed Application" but now the new version is releasing what should i do???????
10/11/01: Anonymous says: The current VB Distributed exam covers WebClasses. What a joke ! WebClasses were NEVER widely adopted by the development community. This shows just how out of touch with reality the current MCSD certification is. Hopefully, the Dot Net certs will be more relevant to reality.
11/1/01: nnp says: I am palnning to take MCSD and want to start with a paper which is common with MCSE also and is comparativly easy. Can somone help me as to which paper i should take etc thanks.
11/8/01: Asim says: I want to do MCSD asap, Will you please send some suggestion to me how can I prepare nmyself.
11/28/01: nitin says: sir i want to know abt abt mcse 2002.i have heard that soon in march mcse 2002 is coming and after that mcse 2000 track will be retired.
11/28/01: Mehrdad says: Thats good!
1/3/02: Lokesh says: Hello , I am intrested in giving MCSD exam.please give me what is the processes and what are the opetions which i can select.can i do this with c and asp.actually i donot know any thing about MCSD.please help me!
1/9/02: Steve Horth from Brewster, NY says: 1. DON'T WAIT for .NET MCSD to come out - get your MCSD now !!! I did, which should give hope to everyone! ;) 2. The ONLY 70-100 study material worth using is Exam Cram (not Prep) and Transcender. All of the others are based on the Microsoft study guide, which is a good course for learning project management but will do NOTHING for your exam grade! 3. If you do the practice 70-100 exams in Transcender and STILL have trouble, you probably should get more real experience under your belt. Also, I believe it would be great if you actually worked a full life cycle project using the MSF (outlined in MS 70-100 study guide) - talk about a breath of fresh air! This is an excellent "lab" for those studying for Architecture. Best of luck to all potential MCSDs. PS: If anyone knows of a 70-100 course that needs an instructor, look me up.

1/26/02: Wael Salah from Egypt says: THANK GOD!!!! at last I managed to take the MCSD title desktop, distributed VC++6 these 2 exams need a lot of effort and time they need the MOC plus the microsoft press books both r needed plus some programming experience ,70-100 which i refrenced some case studies for it ,these case studies really helped me a lot in the exam, at last the SQL Server 2000 which is another very hard exam that needs a lot of studing but i think that the MOC is quite enough for it,but u ll find some quesions on cursors which is not refrenced anywhere in the MOC "Not new for microsoft" generally i m happy with the certification i really learned a lot from it.
