Microsoft Issues ID Cards for Some Win2K MCSEs
8/8/2001 -- Are you a card-carrying Windows 2000 MCSE? If you achieve the title before Oct. 31, 2001, you very well may be one. Microsoft will be issuing a "limited-edition MCSE Early Achiever identification card" to each MCSE who recertifies before the above deadline. The card will also include date of completion of the recertification.
It's a timely and surprising response for Joshua Konkle, an MCSE and MCT at Digital Knowledge in Georgetown, Texas. "We have all worked very hard and are due some recognition for our efforts," says the charter Win2K MCSE who upgraded last September.

Is this so they can get more money and make you re-certify for .NET how thay just did with NT/2K rather than just going to .NET ??? |

If they had any class they would send nicely framed W2K certificates also. |

I think the new card is a good idea. I do think a certificate and, a year’s worth of TechNet again would be nice. I have been using MCSE-NT and MCSE-W2K to show I have both, now I have recognition. For you flamers, I am a fan of UNIX too, but remember Novell started it all. For you others, get a life, and do something positive for our industry. |

I'd rather a turtleneck that says, "I sat on Elvis' toilet and lived". |

Screw that, go for the Cisco....... Currently an MCSE but got screwed by Microsoft. |

Big Deal! I've never been carded at a job interview. Another stupid attempt by Microsoft to make us think they care about us. |

Sure, it's not the same as money, but I like the idea. I'm so sick of listening to jerks cry and complain about the Giant. Maybe you should go and pursue other IT Certs...like Mac or Novell! |

i'd rather a happiness that says,"i like mcse2k ,but don't think???" |

Whats the point in up grading from NT4.0 to Win2k most companies are just getting used to NT4 and some are just upgrading to it. My company supports win2k but all of our servers are NT4. In two weeks we start training on XP. Thats right people microsoft has a new networking platform coming out. They have made win2k obselete in less than a year. No wonder they are making you think you are in a elite club with this card because you are, an out of date one. I read salary surveys on the net that are complete B.S. they are generated by companies to keep people from bailing out of their cert tracks. For those of you who are looking to Cisco plan on getting the CCNP which is still very valuable but there are hardly any jobs out there. The CCNA can help but is soon to be overrun like microsoft's certs. The great backlash on certifications has begun and is in full swing. We should be able to write off the money we spent on certifications as a total loss. Some will say that I am just complaining but you cannot deny that what I am saying isn't true. |
