Microsoft Issues ID Cards for Some Win2K MCSEs
8/8/2001 -- Are you a card-carrying Windows 2000 MCSE? If you achieve the title before Oct. 31, 2001, you very well may be one. Microsoft will be issuing a "limited-edition MCSE Early Achiever identification card" to each MCSE who recertifies before the above deadline. The card will also include date of completion of the recertification.
It's a timely and surprising response for Joshua Konkle, an MCSE and MCT at Digital Knowledge in Georgetown, Texas. "We have all worked very hard and are due some recognition for our efforts," says the charter Win2K MCSE who upgraded last September.

I think Just Another has a great point I have a bunch of Cisco certs but when I look at the market place there isn't a huge demand for WAN, considerably less than for server/LAN skills anyway. My current thought is the CCEA for a next cert, you have to know MS to deploy Citrix so a MS cert shouldn't be as important if you hold the premium level with Citrix. Just my feelings. |

Even if I wasn't insulted by the one-shot upgrade path, I wouldn't waste my time on a cert that will be the red-headed stepchild as soon as the new XP crap takes over. |

When I mentioned the new ID card for early W2K MCSE's, my husband smiled indulgently at me and archly said, "Is this like the NAZI party cards? You know, those of you who have a lower sequence numbers are the true believers?" I had to admit, his wry comment made me think. With this card and $1 American I can purchase a cup of coffee. Not once on a job interview have I been asked for my card. It's nice don't get me wrong, but I don't think anyone outside your immediate family and friends will be iimpressed. |

For one, I will be glad to get my early achiever card. Some of you procrastinators out there will still be whining when January 1st rolls around, making my w2000 cert more valuable. TY! |

For all the poo hoo-ers... why don't guys start your own company and make your own OS if you are really that good! Please sh*t or get off the pot. Lamers... some of us work really hard to get where we are and plan on staying there... is MCSE an end all? NO... I have many certifications and not all Microsoft's... I have CompTia's, Novell's and Redhat's. I worked hard and proud to get what I have. |

Question for people with good memory. I certified as an MCSE back in the days of NT 3.51 and continued to upgrade my cert. When I got my MCSE, I remember them saying besides the Technet, I would get 5 free trouble calls to Microsoft. I called Microsoft a few years back and they said they have never offered that with MCSE. Did I dream up the trouble calls? |

Give me a break. Who cares about a stupid card. No one has ever asked to see it on an interview. Dont you clowns out there understand that the IT market is all washed up. The gold rush is gone. Employers could give a crap about certs anymore. Considering high school kids are now graduating with CISCO/Microsoft certs already. I done the cert thing and it was good 2 years ago. I was the bomb. But now pick a number you aint sh*t any more. So hang up your stupid geek glasses that every one had to go out and buy just to look like the true IT professional. And say good buy to the good old days. Hey lets all go to WIN2K bootcamp training for only $7-8k only to not get a job. wooooo that felt good. Have a great IT day. Rodney from DC :) |

If you guys don't like this arrangement, get out and quit yer bitchin'. As for you whiners that complain about upgrading, Novell does this routinely. I don't know about some of you, but good riddance to the one's that obtained their NT 4.0 MCSE's by memorizing questions. If you're that insecure about upgrading and getting the number down, then hit the road, Jack! We don't need you!! So start walking! Tired of your complaining. |

PHUK MICROSLOTH! I was half way to MCSE NT 4.0, (had Net Ess, NT Server, Workstation, and Win95) then MS said they were going to retire NT 4.0 cert holders. So I stopped working towards a cert that was to be retired in a year! Now the BASTARDS have reversed themselves! I am Phuked! ...And now that I have started to work on WIN2K, XP rollsout! MicroSloth make up your mind! My network clients have not even made the switch to Win2K and here comes XP and very VERY soon .NET Server! What the Phuk??? |
