Cisco Announces CCIE Security Changes
5/31/2006 -- Today Cisco announced that it will be revamping the content of its Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) security written and lab exams. Beginning January 2007, troubleshooting will become a part of the lab exam, the company said. Other content changes include:
- Upgrade of Cisco PIX Firewall Appliance to Software Version 7.x
- Addition of two ASA-5510 Firewall Appliances running v7.x
- Upgrade of Cisco Intrusion Prevention System to Software Release 5.x
- Upgrade of Cisco VPN3000 Concentrator Series to Software Release 4.7.x
- Upgrade of Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches to Software Release 12.2SEE
- Upgrade of CiscoSecure ACS to Software Version 4.0.
- Addition of PC to test Remote Access VPN, admission control, packet capturing and various other applications.
- Eliminate preconfigured ACS and require candidates to configure.

there is no fix answer to your question but I think it can definitely be done. My cousin took 4 months off from work to work on his CCIE Security lab exam and he just passed the lab a couple weeks ago on his first attempt. He has his own rack and he spent about 14 hours a day on the rack. In other words, he eats and sleep with the rack. So, to answer your question. yes it CAN be done. That being said, I think my cousin is a pretty smart person. He got a master degree in Computer Science. Even though he has no practicall hand-on experience, he did not have problem passing the lab because I think the lab is written for people with engineering discplines. People with engineering background can read and decode the requirements properly. But that's my 2c. |
