Vendor Giving Away Discount CompTIA Coupons

10/26/2005 -- StudyExam4Less.com is currently giving away discount codes for Network+, A+ and Security+ exams as supply lasts.

The codes give candidates in the U.S. discounts of 40 percent off of each A+ exam, 26 percent off of a Network+ exam and 33 percent off a Security+ exam. Separate international codes are being given away for 25 percent off of any of these exams.

-- advertisement (story continued below) --

The unique codes must be used with an exam registration through Pearson Vue testing centers by Oct. 31; however, the exam itself may be taken by July 31, meaning that only the registration process must happen by the end of this month. To be on the safe side, the site recommends registering with any codes by this Friday.

The company is limiting the number of codes per customer to two for A+ codes and one Security and Network+ each.

The codes are now available from the StudyExam4Less.com Web site here. The codes are packaged with CompTIA-approved study materials; when sold, the packages were priced anywhere from $9.99 to $19.99, sometimes less.

Muhammad Siddique, president of StudyExams4Less.com, told CertCities.com that the site is giving away the codes due to uncertainty over how or whether the Computing Technology Industry Association will honor them after Oct. 31 -- the day CompTIA will be ending its bulk discount voucher pricing. Because the codes are based on this price structure, he said he doesn't know what the discount will be after that date, if at all.

CompTIA provided the codes to the site earlier this year for use in the packages, Siddique said.

CertCities.com contacted CompTIA for comment on this story, but the organization could not provide comment by press time. The company confirmed in an earlier discussion that its bulk discount pricing -- which gives vendors significant discounts when buying CompTIA vouchers in bulk -- is ending Nov. 1.

Siddique said the site decided to give away its remaining code inventory as a sign of goodwill toward its customers. "I don't want to take any chances on my site with the customers," he explained. "That's what we're really known for, our customer service."

CertCities.com is working on a more comprehensive story on the possible overall impact of the end of CompTIA's volume discount pricing. Stay tuned to this site for further updates. -Becky Nagel

10/31/05: Anonymous says: Just another way for CompTIA to gouge its certification candidates. Their exam prices are outrageous.
11/14/05: Bill Piersall from Cincinnati says: Becky... If Membership $59, Network Plus $218 less 25% is $54.50. I saved $54.50, right? No!! I paid $4.50 more!! $59 plus $163.50 is $222.50 how is that a savings? And now I have been told by CompTIA staff that they are changing discount it could be 10% to 25% depends on exam.
12/13/05: Wildcat Dude from USA says: I've emailed them twice now, and still they haven't contacted me.
12/13/05: Wildcat Dude from USA says: That's why I told CompTIA to keep their Professional Membership. I bought into it last year, and I didn't see any benefits from being a "Professional Member" to get gouged some more. Of course on the other hand, this is a one time test and it doesn't expire unlike other exams that cost half as less, but they are generally good 3 plus years most of the time.
3/28/06: Anonymous says: is there anyway that i can get a ccna international voucher?
