CompTIA Dropping English Version of e-Biz+
7/1/2005 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) announced today that it will no longer offer the English version of its e-Biz+ exam after the end of this year.
According to CompTIA spokesperson Steven Ostrowski, the organization decided to retire the English version of the certification because "the volume [isn't] there to support it." The Japanese version of the exam will continue to be available.
The retirement does not affect those already e-Biz+ certified as all CompTIA certifications are good for life.
e-Biz+ is a vendor-neutral, entry-level designation that focuses on e-business concepts and technology issues used in e-business environments.
CompTIA bought the title, originally called "e-Business Fundamentals," along with Project+ from the Gartner Group in February 2001. It relaunched it as e-Biz+ in April of that year.
The official announcement of the retirement was not posted on CompTIA's site by press time. -Becky Nagel
