First Oracle 10g Beta Launching June 15

6/9/2004 -- This week Oracle announced the first beta exam opportunity for its upcoming Oracle Certified Professional, Database Administrator (OCP DBA)10g certification track.

The beta exam, Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators (#1Z1-040), will be available on June 15 for the discounted price of $50 (U.S.). The exam enables those previously certified on Oracle9i to upgrade their certification to the 10g track. Objectives for the new exam can be found here.

Oracle beta exams can last up to three hours and consist of hundreds of questions. Those who pass do receive credit toward certification.

The company did not say when it expects to take the exam "live." An announcement of the full 10g track is expected shortly.

6/15/04: majed_3 from Saudi Arabia says:	Will this is first exam for 10g track, but will be there any conditions to take an exam from there Institute to get the certified, like 9i ?? I hope not ..
7/17/04: kevinz says:	There is a "hands-on" requirement for the 10g track, but only for the professional part, not the associate part (as with 9i track). See http://www.dbdomain.com/n062104-1.htm for more information about the requirements, when each exam is due out, etc. Good luck.
