Cisco Corrects CCIE Lab Change Announcement, Adds Routing & Switching Change

4/6/2004 -- Cisco recently announced that it posted incorrect information in regards to upcoming changes for its CCIE Security and Service Provider lab exams.

Cisco had previously said that the Security lab would be updated to PIX 6.3 on July 1. This is still correct, but the company said it will also be updating the IOS version to 12.2T.

As for the Service Provider lab, the IOS will still be updated on July 1, but the actual versions will be 12.2T on 2600 routers and 12.3T on 3600 and 3700 routers.

The company also announced that, on Aug. 1, it will update its Routing & Switching lab to IOS 12.2T.

As with previous announcements, the company said that candidates may seethe new IOSes installed in the lab before that time, but candidates will not be presented with questions covering the new features until the dates given above.

4/13/04: Anonymous says: Send you free book? Why don't you ask someone to send you money, so that you don't need to get a CCIE anymore. Can someone send me free money, say a 100 grand so I don't have to study for the darn CCIE?
4/17/04: Anonymous from .nl says: great minds seem to visit this site; very interesting to see the main drive for CCIE seems to be money..
4/17/04: anonymous from italy says: Sadly it's true, at last, the only thing mattering is money...., even though some jobs are more interesting than others...
4/29/04: Anonymous from Denver, Co says: Just to reasure there are a few of us left that are doing this for the right reasons. Money is fine, whatever, I want to know that I have the knowledge to do the job that I am hired to do. What they pay me to do that job is nice but not what its all about ... at least for the rair few of us that still do this cause we love it.
5/6/04: Anonymous says: Hey Denver, I hear you! Don't worry too much though, the ones that seem to do it only for the money are the quickest to drop out or get fired, because they are going to give the bare minimum effort.
5/7/04: Aussie from Sydney says: I'm doing it because I like computers??? Is there another reason aside from the money?
5/8/04: DD40 from NJ USA says: Yes The other reason is to provide for your family with a direction and path that maybe your children will use as an example in going forward in life! There is no free lunch. The lunch will be paid for! the difference is will you pay cheaply for it now or a heavy sum later in life!
