IT Project+ Beta Coming Soon

7/9/2003 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) recently announced that it is updating its IT Project+ exam and will be offering a discounted beta version of the new exam worldwide.

The beta (exam #PK1-002) debuts July 16 at Prometric and Pearson Vue testing centers worldwide. It consists of 100 questions and will cost $99 (U.S.). Those who pass the beta will become IT Project+ certified, CompTIA said.

The final "live" version of the exam will debut sometime in September. CompTIA did not say when the current IT Project+ exam will be retired, although the organization typically allows for some overlap to ease the transition for candidates.

The update does not affect those already IT Project+ certified as CompTIA certifications do not expire.

More information on participating in this beta can be found here. -Becky Nagel

7/9/03: Anonymous says: CompTIA certs are a waste of money. All the employers and recruiters that I know consider CompTIA certs to be "entry level" certs. I know my CompTIA certs make horribly itchy toilet paper.
7/9/03: Anonymous says: CompTIA certs are a plus when you apply for janitorial and landscaping jobs.
7/10/03: Anonymous says: The comments above are very subjective opinions. Not all CompTIA certs are just the same. Have a look at the follow study results: http://www.certmag.com/articles/templates/cmag_feature.asp?articleid=170&zoneid=9
7/10/03: Anonymous says: Yeah, they are different. They cause different levels of itchiness when I wipe.
7/11/03: Anonymous says: wow, a totally made up subjective BS "rating" scale. PS this is not a study, its some made up goat poop. CompTIA is good for getting people to laugh at you. I should know. Joe Mamasuxsit A plus, network plus, linux plus, project plus, security plus, janitor plus, youwantfrieswiththat plus.
7/14/03: MonkeyChow from zoo says: CompTIA certs are good for starting a fire to keep your homeless but warm in the winter.
7/16/03: Mike says: As a 17 year old looking getting my A plus cert next week that is not very encouraging. I am hoping to score a starting type techy job at like Best Buy as a technician for the computer center or some similiar position, also A plus seems like it would be good to just have. Am I going the right way?
7/30/03: mike IT Project Manager says: Before this new takes effect with more Japanies style management, I just bought IT project guide and test voucher at www.getcertified4less.com today. I will take exam next week and I will be certified for rest of my life which is cool.
7/30/03: jwamble from Dallas says: MIKE yes comptia is very basic and is entry level,,,BUT everyone starts somewhere and all experiance is very handy on resumes when looking for other jobs beyond what you have already done,,I started with aplus and netplus then went mcse2000 and ccna,,and make 95,000 a year,,and im 19 years old,,,dont stop what you are doing!!!!
