Cisco To Drop CCIE Recert Exams

5/21/2003 -- Cisco Systems recently announced a change in its recertification policy for CCIEs.

Starting June 15, 2003, the company will stop offering specific recertification exams. Instead, candidates will be able to recertify by passing any currently available written CCIE exam. According to the company, 10 different written exams are currently available.

Candidates who specialize in Dial technologies will be able to take the Recertification Access test (350-008) through July 2003. The content of that exam will eventually surface in the new version of the Communications & Services Dial exam.

6/26/03: Anonymous says: did I miss something? Do you guys who are complaining about the cost actually have your CCIE?? Maybe it's just where I live, but I have yet to meet an unemployed CCIE who isn't making a good serious living right now... If you're making $80,000 or greater (typical for a CCIE) then what the hell is $1200 every few years to ensure you still know what you're doing with new technologies??
8/19/03: Anonymous says: ok if you are an IE and work for a company which needs you for partnership status then they will pay for it, if not find another job. Also Cisco gives an extra year grace period it won't just disappear.
