Cisco Extends ARCH, BGP Betas
4/8/2003 -- Cisco Systems has extended two beta exams -- Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers (BGP), for its Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional title; and Designing Cisco Network Service Architectures (ARCH), for its Cisco Certified Design Professional credential -- until Tuesday April 15.
When the discounted betas originally debuted, they were scheduled to be available only within February. As recently as last week, the betas were shown as closed on March 31. However, as of Monday, Cisco's Web site was updated to show the new deadline.
Certification programs like Cisco's often offer discounted beta exams to test new versions of tests before they officially go "live." Cisco is currently offering five other beta exams for various credentials.
All the betas are being offered for $50 (U.S.) at Prometric and Pearson Vue testing centers worldwide. Candidates who pass the betas receive credit toward certification. Cisco exams normally cost $125 (US).

The way it works is when cisco decides to retire a exam set (CCDP for example), anyone who has started the requirements may finish using old requirements, but cisco usually posts a cutoff date by which all requirements MUST be met. On the CCDP, to use your old requirements, you must finish the requirements by November of this year for the 640-025 and the 640-605 (remote access). |

so what cert is valuable now? anything can be dumped if one wants to, even ccie lab or rhce can be dumped in a way that one is told about the lab questions or problems to be asked/solved before doing the lab, which of course will require more skill than dumping written exams which anyone can, but still it's possible...so yeah, what cert is good now? if a 4yr degree, masters, or phd can also be done (/purchased) online in less than half of the time...maybe education will no longer serve any purpose in the future it this gets worse over time...remember i'm talking about formal education now, set aside the experience for a moment. |
