CompTIA To Release Wireless Cert

9/10/2002 -- With its new newest certifications -- Security+ and HTI+ -- in beta, the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) has officially announced plans to add yet another title to its vendor-neutral roster, Wireless+.

The announcement came in the form of a call for subject matter experts posted on the organization's Web site. CompTIA is also looking for industry sponsors to become cornerstone members of the certification's development committee.

When launched, the title will become the organization's 12th certification.

According to CompTIA President Jon Venator, CompTIA's plans for a wireless certification have been in the works for a while, but the organization wanted to get Security+ and HTI+ titles developed before making an official announcement.

Wireless+ is expected to debut in 2003.

9/11/02: Anonymous says: skeeter, you probably think that only because you can't pass any of CompTIA's exams.
9/11/02: closedforwinter says: I was thinking about taking the CWNA...now I might need to reconsider. CompTIA is a far more recognized name than Planet3 Wireless.
9/12/02: Martoe says: Somebody tell me what to do.i have been studying hard for A plus, i just dont know what i am leaving out... any suggestions on which areas i should put more emphasies!!...desperately...Martoe
9/12/02: Anonymous says: Martoe IRQ's, I/O addresses, DMA. Experience is the most important part though, so if you have not serviced or built any PC's then practice that. The tests are fairly straight forward. I almost forget printers to.
9/13/02: Cytoxin from Keystone State says: CompTIA has too many damn certs! It's making them lose the little value they have.
9/13/02: John O says: CompTIA having lots of certs has nothing to do with their value. When Aplus was first released it was a HUGE cert, and extremely valuable to employers. Fact is, the "test-prep" industry is partly responsible for taking the lustre off the certs. Learn the skills, work the systems, get some experience. *That's* what the certs are supposed to verify, and early on that's what they did.
