Microsoft Issues ID Cards for Some Win2K MCSEs

8/8/2001 -- Are you a card-carrying Windows 2000 MCSE? If you achieve the title before Oct. 31, 2001, you very well may be one. Microsoft will be issuing a "limited-edition MCSE Early Achiever identification card" to each MCSE who recertifies before the above deadline. The card will also include date of completion of the recertification.

It's a timely and surprising response for Joshua Konkle, an MCSE and MCT at Digital Knowledge in Georgetown, Texas. "We have all worked very hard and are due some recognition for our efforts," says the charter Win2K MCSE who upgraded last September.

8/8/01: Dave says: At last! A "real" incentive, but will it still scrape ice off your wind shield as good as the last one did?
8/8/01: Anonymous says: What about a dual card showing that you were an MCSE before? Or how about like AmEx "Member Since...." Or how about Italian MCSEs? Or for that matter, Albino MCSEs. Let me throw away all the other cards in my wallet to make room!
8/8/01: Jack says: The majority must be female. They mature earlier than males during puberty.
8/8/01: Big Deal says: Why not simply bring back a years worth of TechNet instead? A new card - who cares?
8/8/01: Heywood says: Ahahah.. I can finally by pizza and beer with one!!!! what?? no bonus points on purchases?.. bah worthless..
8/8/01: Anonymous says: I was going to go back to selling customers on Novell and Unix servers, but I mean if all I have to do is turn my life upside down to take all of these tests to prove I know what I have been doing the last two years since I started debugging, oops I mean beta testing win2k and I can get a new card and shoot a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of business to Redmond. I have a special place for this card, Mr. Gates please step forward.
8/8/01: Willie says: Wow, you mean I can devote a large portion of my personal life to studying, test taking, and giving money to the cert machine; while my salary will go up 4% if that..... doh thats a cost of living increase, not a cert increase with a new card.. :{
8/8/01: Jim Olsen says: I think it's great...we're finally getting the recognition we've been asking for and a way to distinquish our credentials....
8/8/01: Judy says: Awesome!!! Love the idea!
