Details Trickle Out of Redmond on New Windows .NET Server Exams

7/30/2001 -- Microsoft continues to beef up its line-up of Windows XP/.NET offerings within the MCSE track, with an announcement of three more exams that are slated for availability some time in 2002. They are:

  • 70-275, Installing, Configuring and Administering Windows .NET Server
  • 70-276, Implementing and Administering a Windows .NET Server Network Infrastructure
  • 70-277, Implementing and Administering a Windows .NET Server Directory Services Infrastructure

According to Anne Marie McSweeney, director of Microsoft's certification and skills assessment group, "candidates will be able to mix-and-match" the exams they choose to fulfill the MCSE core requirements, which means the choices don't have to be exclusive to the Windows 2000 or Windows XP/.NET Server lines.

Here's how the exams will fit into the track:

MCSE Core Exams
70-210 Windows 2000 70-270 Windows XP Professional
70-215 Windows 2000 Server 70-275 Windows .NET Server
70-216 Implementing a Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure 70-276 Implementing a Windows .NET Server Network Infrastructure
70-217 Implementing a Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure 70-277 Implementing a Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure

A descriptive chart showing how these exams fit into the MCSE track is also available on Microsoft's MCP Web site (click here).

Exam objective guides for these three new exams were not available as of this writing. Prior to posting the exam information on its Web site, Microsoft had already announced a forthcoming 70-270, Windows XP Professional exam during its Microsoft Fusion 2001 Conference in Anaheim, Calif. Microsoft has finally made the 70-270 exam objective guide available this week; you can view it here. -- MCPMag.com

8/3/01: firestarter says: whats this all about new exams new tracks ...! this is why he is the richest , he steals unix then calls it windows, now xp seems like some mandrake linuxs kde desktop, also new mcse exams ,work daily pay monthly to gates ,,to be certified professinal customer of gates ...two months later.when the court judges micrsft as an monopol of market , what the all these certificate holders will do?
8/4/01: tropical be`arch says: reply to comment by firestarter:even if the courts against microsoft you loose nothing because organisations will still be running nt servers and you have the knowledge
8/22/01: Rodney says: OK here we go again. If you have the personality and the ability to convey on a peice of paper(your resume)your experience and back ground you dont need these stupid certs. I am finding that many of you cant even hold a conversation with your mom let alone go on an interview. So for you knuckle heads who need certs to help you excel go ahead and pay your $100 and enjoy taking those stupid tests. Hmm I think a college degree is the answer to the problem. And lets get off of Bill Gates back. If it were you in his shoes I dont think I would hear any b+tching. So get off of your a** and make some thing of yourself. Stop your complaining if it were not for old willie I wouldnt be where I am at today. Thanks Bill Gates for boosting the economy and for my job. Rodney from DC have a great IT day. [email protected]
1/3/02: wddq says: how to pass the exam of 70-210 course
1/25/02: jimT from Syracuse NY says: Technology will stop evolving for no one. If you want to ride the technology wave...you gotta pay the price. If you're organized, and faithful to some part-time study you will continue to make progress and collect certs...that is my experience. Most people take about 15 months per mcse track. That means there is no time to waste with new tracks coming out every 2 years or so. I only passed one cert CNA4 until I invested in Transcenders for Microsoft...guess what??....I passed 3 out of 4 the first time after that. I'm MCSE NT4 and just 2 away from MCSE 2000. There is no time to waste. Get the transender, and catch the technology wave if you can...
6/23/02: David Glass from Louisville says: If you hope to use these exams simply to get a job, perhaps you are barking up the wrong tree. If your experience is limited yet you show the technical ability to pass these exams, a quality employer might consider you if you have the right interview and social skills. These tests are not the pinnacle to which one should aspire nor are they the equivalent of used tissue to be thrown out with the garbage. They are, in part, the measure of a persons willingness to study and work toward a goal. The rest is up to us.
