CompTIA Announces Network+ Beta
6/18/2001 -- According to the CompTIA Web site, a revised version of the organization's Network+ exam will soon be ready for beta testing.
The beta will be available through Prometric and Vue testing centers starting July 31. As of yet, CompTIA has not released details regarding the number of questions on this beta or the price; however, the objectives for the exam have been posted.
CompTIA announced in April that it planned a "minor revision" for its Network+ title, which tests candidates' knowledge of vendor-neutral networking technologies. At that time, CompTIA expected to release the final version of the new Network+ exam this fall; now, however, according to CompTIA's Web site, it looks like it will not be released in its final form until early 2002.
The new exam will not affect those already Network+ certified -- unlike most vendors, CompTIA offers all of its certifications for life, and does not require individuals to recertify when curriculum is updated.
