EXCLUSIVE: CompTIA Postpones Wireless Cert
1/20/2003 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association no longer plans to release a wireless technology certification exam by the end of the year.
A CompTIA spokesperson told CertCities.com on Friday that exam development plans for the vendor-neutral wireless certification have been postponed for the time being so that the organization can further research the prospects of such a title. "We do think this title will serve a purpose," a spokesperson said, "[but] how do you create a vendor-neutral, entry-level certification when there's no worldwide standards for the technology? There's many types of job roles [within the wireless sector]...We need to better understand the audience."
CompTIA originally announced plans for the wireless title in September 2002. The organization's latest certification, Security+, debuted in December.
