Apple Launches First ACSA Exam After Long Delay
6/19/2002 -- After multiple revised release dates, Apple has finally released its Mac OSX Services Integration Exam -- nine months after its scheduled debut.
The exam is one of two required to achieve the company's new Apple Certified Systems Administrator (ACSA) title. The second ACSA exam, Mac OSX Services Integration, has yet to be released.
Originally, Apple said it would debut both ACSA exams in September 2001. In November, the company changed the release date to "early 2002," then later revised it to "spring 2002" and, most recently, "late spring 2002" -- which is still the status next to the Mac OSX Services Integration exam.
According to Apple, the ACSA is aimed at "full-time professional system administrators and engineers managing medium-to-large networks of Mac systems." It is the top level of the company's two-tiered certification program for Macintosh systems administrators; the other title, Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, is a prerequisite for the ACSA. Exams for the ACTC have been available since the program's launch.
All of Apple's exams are available at Prometric testing centers and cost $150 U.S. Currently, the company's exams are only available in the US and Canada (plans for international release have not been announced).
