This must-have guide covers the key principles and concepts of Word 2000. The text is presented in sixteen units with single skills broken into 2-page spreads. Using concise steps and numerous large screen illustrations, the book covers everything from creating documents and formatting fundamentals to forms and collaboration techniques. It covers the new features of Microsoft Word 2000 along with the exam objectives you'll need to know for the MOUS Word 2000 Core and Expert exams.

Step-by step directions for completing tasks are provided, with hands-on visual examples, throughout MOUS Word 2000 Exam Prep. Some of the material may feel a bit basic for an advanced user, but even the beginning sections are well worth reading for their QuickTips and troubleshooting advice. Another nice feature of the book is the Clues to Use summaries presented with the lesson material. The summaries provide additional terminology, toolbar information, and supplementary reference materials for the skills presented. The glossary, located at the end of the book is an excellent resource for reviewing terminology and test preparation.

The companion CD includes project files for use with the text and solution files for the concept reviews presented at the end of each unit. Note that the CD requires you to have Microsoft Word 2000 to complete the projects and it is not included on the CD-ROM.

I have always found the Exam Prep series to be excellent resources for MOUS certification preparation-and this book is no exception. The format is compact and presented in an easy to understand and focused manner. My only complaint about this book was the change in formatting from the version for Word 97.The previous version of the book was printed on larger, glossy, paper with four-color illustrations, while the new format is smaller in scale and the illustrations are two-color. However, the content is excellent and for the price, this book is an excellent value.

Final thoughts... if you're looking for a comprehensive introduction to Word 2000, a preparation guide for the MOUS Word 2000 exam, and a valuable reference guide for future use, MOUS Word 2000 Exam Prep is an excellent choice. It is concise, well written, and an all-around great reference tool for Word 2000.
