New Electives Announced for MCSE

4/23/2001 -- Microsoft recently published information about two new exams that will serve as electives for the MCSE certification.

Designing and Implementing Solutions with BizTalk Server 2000, Enterprise Edition, exam 70-230, is expected in beta release in July. It will server as an elective for both the MCSE and MCSD titles. Candidates are expected to have a year's experience designing and developing distributed applications using Microsoft technologies as well as expertise with XML and Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT). If you're going to tackle this one, make sure you know COM+, Visual Basic and Microsoft Visual C++, IIS, ASP, and SQL Server Enterprise Edition.

Exam 70-232, Implementing and Maintaining Highly Available Web Solutions with Windows 2000 Server Technologies and Application Center 2000, is expected to beta in September. Application Center 2000 is Microsoft's new deployment and management tool for Web applications built on the Win2K. The test checks experience with environments that have two or more Web servers, n-tier application architecture, Internet security, and server technologies such as network load balancing.

10/28/02: Becky Nagel from Editor, CertCities.com says: Hi Everyone -- The best place to get information about MCSE is at www.microsoft.com(forwardslash)mcp. To gind out about testing, go to www.2test.com or www.vue.com to find out if testing is in your region. Oracle has a certification site for Asai, Prashant -- you should find the information you want there. Aniruddha -- it just depends on how prepared you are; there's not time limit for when to take the exams; if you're ready, you could take them all in one day (but I don't think anyone would recommend it). Again, the best place to find regional information is to visit the regional sections of the certification vendor's sites or the testing sites. If you have trouble locating these, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll try to get you the right URL. - Becky

12/2/02: Anilnath K from Tamil Nadu, India says: RUSH!!MS price hike again in India I have confirmed information from VUE and Prometric that Microsoft will be hiking their prices in India from 50$ to 75$, wef 1st Jan 2003. MS will be announcing it only after 25th Dec. This time they are not giving the option of pre-registration(register now and take the test later). So all of us will be forced to take the test before 31st Dec(only a month time!!!)if we need to take it at old price. Currently some testing centres are offering 20-25% discount.(If u remember correctly, last year too MS has adopted the same strategy... they gave some discount in the last quarter and hiked it in January!!!)
