10/11/2005 -- The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, (ISC)2, the organization that runs the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and related credentials, recently announced that it is now accepting applications for its 2006 scholarship program.

Four one-year scholarships of up to $12,500 will be awarded to four full-time post-graduate students pursuing an advanced degree in information security at any accredited university worldwide, the organization said.

Scholarship funds will be awarded based on the relevance of the recipient's research to the (ISC)2's industry best practices and financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who hold an (ISC)2 credential.

"Information security degree programs are attracting an increasing number of students, and more colleges and universities are offering undergraduate and post-graduate degrees," Rolf Moulton, CISSP-ISSMP, president and chief executive office, said in a released statement. "We are pleased to support these students and recognize the educational institutions that offer comprehensive, high-quality programs."

Applications are due by Nov. 30.
