New BPEL Cert Launched


7/27/2005 -- Active Endpoints, an independent provider of of commercial and open source Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) solutions, recently announced a new certification for the XML-based Web services language.

To become a Certified BPEL Engineer, candidates are required to pass an online exam covering four major topic areas:

  • Concepts and Fundamentals
  • Conditional, Concurrent and Iterative Processing
  • Fault Handling, Scopes and Compensation
  • Event Handling and Correlation

Detailed objectives were not posted on the company Web site as of press time.

The Web-based exam consist of 60 multiple-choice question; candidates must score at least 60 percent in all four areas. It costs $75, which includes the price of one retake, said Sonal Rajan, Active Endpoints marketing manager. Optional training is available through the company.

7/28/05: Purple Herman from Toronto says: Yeah, the "optional training" involves forking over 1500 USD for a two-hour webcast. Sheesh! Does anyone know if the Juric book "Business Process Execution Language for Web Services : BPEL and BPEL4WS" would be relevant here?
