CompTIA Moves Forward with RFID Cert
6/20/2005 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) announced today that it's moving forward with plans for a radio frequency identification (RFID) technician certification, RFID+, with a beta exam scheduled to debut in September.
The organization recently met with a group of subject matter experts (SMEs) to help develop the topics covered by the exam, it said.
Currently, it's seeking RFID technicians to participate in a "Blueprint Survey" about their job tasks, available here. It is also looking for subject matter experts to participate in an exam item writing session to be held in late August.
According to CompTIA, the live RFID+ exam should debut in late 2005 or early 2006. Pricing has yet to be announced.
CompTIA announced its plans to develop an RFID title late last year, citing the industry's need for skilled RFID professionals. The organization offers a number of vendor-neutral IT certifications, including A+, Network+, Linux+ and Security+.
