Cisco Revamps CCIE Written Retake Policy
5/25/2005 -- Last week Cisco Systems announced new policies for retaking a failed CCIE qualification (a.k.a. "written") exam.
Effective immediately, candidates who fail a CCIE written exam must now wait a period of five calendar days to reschedule the same exam. Previously, candidates needed to wait three days. Also, candidates who pass a CCIE written exam must now wait six months to take the same exam.
Cisco offers a number of CCIE written exams for its five CCIE tracks—Routing & Switching, Security, Storage Networking, Service Provider and Voice—through Pearson Vue and Prometric testing centers worldwide. Passing a written exam, which costs $300 (U.S.), allows candidates to sit for the corresponding CCIE lab exam as well as renew any other Cisco certification the candidate currently holds.
