Macromedia Goes Live with Latest ColdFusion Cert

4/27/2005 -- Macromedia announced the immediate availability of its Certified ColdFusion MX 7 Developer certification with the release of its latest exam for the Web-based development environment on April 12.

According to the basic exam guide on the Macromedia Web site, candidates can become certified by passing one exam, aptly named Certified ColdFusion MX 7 Developer. That exam consists of about 66 questions that must be completed within a 75-minute time limit. Testers who score a minimum 70 percent achieve Certified ColdFusion MX 7 Developer status; the company certifies those who score above 85 percent with Advanced Certified ColdFusion MX 7 Developer status.

Macromedia offers two official courses related to this exam:

  • Fast Track to ColdFusion MX 7
  • Advanced ColdFusion MX 7 Development

The exam is $150 (U.S.) and available at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide; the exam is delivered in English only.

With the announcement last week that Adobe Systems will acquire Macromedia, Macromedia senior product manager David Gruber said that it's still too early to tell what impact the acquisition will have on its certification programs. For now, he says, "it's business as usual."

More information on the certification program, including a downloadable exam objective guide, can be found by clicking here. The Web site states that sample questions will be posted at a later date. -Michael Domingo
