New CCIE R&S Written Coming Mid-January

12/8/2004 -- Cisco Systems recently announced that it will be releasing a new version of its Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, Routing and Switching (CCIE R&S) written exam on Jan. 19.

Cisco released a beta (#351-001) of this updated exam in August. When live, the exam will cover "Networking and IP fundamentals, switching, routing, quality of service, WAN, security fundamentals, multicast and enterprise wireless mobility fundamentals," among other topics, the company said. Detailed objectives on the exam content can be found here.

CCIE written exams cost $300 (U.S.) and qualify candidates for the hands-on CCIE lab exam. They can also be used to recertify other Cisco titles.

1/19/05: William W. from Houston Texas says:	Well, it does say in the article above that it will be 351-001, guess that means it will not be 350-001 any more.. Seriously, I am interested to know when some "351-001 specific" books will be out.. Anyone know? Have a good one
11/29/05: Anonymous says:	I would like to know as per CCIE R&S lab wether the changes announced by CISCO will be effective as on 1 January 2006.If not will CCIE lab syllabus including ISDN & ATM will be same till cisco does the changes.
