10/26/2004 -- The Health Care Conference Administrators has launched a new technical certification program for those working in the health care industry.

The Health IT Certification program offers two titles: Certified Professional Electronic Health Records (CPEHR) and Certified Professional Health Information Technology (CPHIT).

The first credential is designed for those who plan and manage electronic health records for healthcare practitioners The second is aimed at IT professionals who work in health environments.

Both titles are earned by passing a multiple-choice exam given by the organization. Each exam costs $495. For more on the topics covered on each exam, go here. Training is available for the titles, but not required.

10/31/04: nasmyt from Sweden says: I agree with the first one. 495$ = Forget it (never in my life). It's not even sounds serious. I would go for th HIPAA instead. The bad thing about HIPAA is that it can not been taking worldwide.
