Sair-GNU Announces Level II Curriculum
2/9/2001 -- Sair Linux and GNU Certification (Sair-GNU), a vendor-neutral Linux certification provider, is taking a product-oriented approach for the second level of its four-tiered Linux certification program.
Last week, Sair-GNU announced the details of its Level II curriculum, which will become available gradually throughout the year. Most notably, the certification will offer candidates seven elective exams to choose from for testing specific product/application-related skills. The applications are:
- Advanced Maryland Automated Disk Archiver
- Apache
- MySQL
- PHP/XML
- Perl
- Samba
- Sendmail
Level II candidates must pass three elective exams from the list above, plus one core technology exam, in order to become Linux Certified Experts (LCEs).
"Level II...is more product driven [than Level I]..." said Sair President Toby Maginnis in a printed statement. "This allows the LCE candidate the freedom to select a combination of applications that best match the job description."
No specific dates were given for when Level II exams would be available; however, a spokesperson for Sair-GNU said that tests would go live as soon as possible after the related classes are released.
