Cisco Revising CCIE Security Written

2/26/2004 -- Cisco Systems announced today that it will soon be revising the qualification exam for its Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert: Security (CCIE: Security) title.

Candidates must pass this multiple-choice (also known as "written") exam before being allowed to attempt the CCIE: Security lab exam.

The new Security 2.0 exam (# 350-018) will go live at testing centers worldwide on June 1. Cisco said that any candidates who plan to take the written on or after that date should use the objectives list found here, where the topic changes from the previous version are indicated in bold. Cisco said these changes will strengthen the exam's "coverage of highly-secure enterprise networks."

A beta for this exam has yet to be announced.

The current Security 1.0 exam (#350-018) will remain available until 2.0 is released.
