Sun Extends Mobile Beta

2/25/2004 -- Sun Microsystems recently announced that it's extending the beta of its upcoming Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer exam through March 7.

Candidates must be Sun Certified Java Programmers to participate in the exam beta. Those interested in taking this beta must apply for a free voucher through Sun's Web site by March 2. Those who pass the beta will earn the new title.

Sun did not say why it's extending the beta, but certification vendors typically need a certain size pool of candidates in order to test new exams, and will often stretch the beta period when not enough candidates apply within the original time frame.

Dates for the live version of the exam have yet to be released.

More information on participating can be found here. -Becky Nagel
