PeopleSoft Opens Cert Program

1/21/2004 -- Enterprise application software company PeopleSoft Corp. announced this week that its PeopleSoft Certified Professional Program is now available to the general public. The program certifies candidates on PeopleTools, based on PeopleSoft 8.4x.

PeopleSoft's first offering in the new program is PeopleSoft Certified Developer. To take the exam for this title, candidates are required to take three courses: PeopleTools 1 and 2, and PeopleCode. Exams are $450 (U.S.) and are available through Prometric testing centers worldwide.

Tom Cooper, director of education strategy at the company, confirmed that another title, PeopleSoft Certified Integrator, "would be released in the next quarter." He added that the requirements would follow similar lines (take the required courses, then take the exam), but had no specific details at this time. Cooper said that more titles based on functional roles of other PeopleSoft implementation professionals are also planned in the coming months.

1/21/04: Purple Herman says: Hey, too bad Tom neglected to mention that in order to register for the courses, you (or rather your company) has to be a licensed "Customer" of PeopleSoft. I think it's time that this site starts distinguishing between real certs (i.e. those available to the general public at a -- somewhat -- reasonable cost) and corporate junkets where only those with the benefit of a well-heeled corporate training department need apply. (REST OF POST REMOVED -- SORRY PURPLE, NEED TO KEEP IT CLEAN)

1/21/04: Becky Nagel from Editor, CertCities.com says: Hi Purple -- Actually, this certification -is- supposed to be open to the public -- that's the big change. It was just announced, so I don't believe that the PeopleSoft Web site has been changed to reflect this yet. However, we'll work on confirming and post here.
1/21/04: Jiffy McSpliff says: PCP??? Does anyone really want PCP on their resume? Don't they random drug test at most places of business these days....?
1/22/04: John S from VA says: 450 is allot of $ per exam. Why not just get ORacle (99 per exam and allot more valuable)
2/2/04: TV from Atl says: Anyone know of a self test we can take to prepare for this?
2/5/04: Anonymous says: what is the need of taking certification for general public if it costs that much
2/20/07: Lain Sullano from Philippines says: PS has retired its certification since June 2005. Is there a plan to bring it back?
2/4/08: Anonymous says: Now Oracle offers the 1Z1-241 PeopleSoft Application Developer I: PeopleTools & PeopleCode Exam...Other Oracle Certification programs have the practice tests developed, but not for PeopleSoft Exam...I'm wondering why? Even if you work with it and know it .. you still need to practice the test to pass it...Can somebody suggest any school that prepares for this test?
